Yahweh is the only deity in Orthodox Christianity, and Judaism. To Christians, he is known simply as God. The only existing God, as well as the highest God. YHVH's names is said to be so holy that Jews do not spell his name as God but as G-d. Yahweh is worshiped as the Creator of the universe, world, humanity, angels and all of nature. Once, Lucifer, the holiest angel of God and second in the universe only to God, rebelled against God, stating "I will ascend above the Heavens, and be greater than God." Lucifer's coup against God failed, and he was cast to the Earth.

In Christianity God is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and all-loving. Unlike in Shin Megami Tensei, God is stated in the scriptures to contain blessings for the Earth including "All flesh will be saved." meaning every living thing will be granted eternal life. (except for those who refuse to accept Jesus as Messiah.) It is interesting to note that Yahweh has a son, Jesus, thought to be God himself, in the Christian Trinity. The Trinity, in Christianity, consists of God the Father(YHVH) the Son(Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. All the same God, but three different people. As confusing as this is, it is and has been the teaching of traditional Christianity for 2,000 years.

Yahweh is the highest authority in the Trinity, with The Holy Spirit submitting to Jesus. God's agent in Heaven, Mikhail, declared a war against Lucifer, who became known as The Dragon(Satan), and ultimately defeated Satan. Whether it is because of Mikhail's power or through empowerement through God himself is not known. Jesus, the Son of God, descended to the Earth and defeated Satan once and for all by taking all of the punishments that the human race deserved on his own person on the Cross when he was crucified. When Jesus died, he forgave the human race of their sins and cancelled the debts that humanity owed to God. If a human being, in Christian doctrine, accepts Jesus as God, who came to sacrifice himself as their replacement for execution, asks Jesus to forgive them, and attempts to live the way Jesus wants them to live, they are said to be "SAVED". Which, in Christian theology means they are going to Heaven and eternal happiness in the after life.

In the Shin Megami Tensei series, YHVH is a strict, absolutist figure deity obsessed with Law and Order. YHVH demands absolute obedience and draconian acceptance of little to no freedoms. While people apparently enjoy happiness and a high standard of living under God's rule in the original Shin Megami Tensei, it is stated flatly that God rules his government as if it is an absolutist Police State, while everyone who denies authority faces severely and probably fatal consequences. When defeated in Shin Megami Tensei II, YHVH claims that it is born from mankind's wish for deliverance and will return again.
