A legendary woman who lives in the Mt. Suzuka, appears in various Japanese folktales during Kamakura period. As the legend spread, she bears the characters of female bandit, demoness (Dairokutenmaou's daughter) or even a goddess (consort of Amaterasu under the male solar god theory.) In the story "Tamura no Soshi", she is known as Suzuka Soshi, a demonic bandit wearing the tateeboshi hat. She is hunted by the historical general Sakanoue no Tamuramaro for robbing the tributes in Ise Province. But the two fall in love and give birth to a daughter. Together the couple conqurers more fierce demons.
