[edit] About

In Christian belief Lucifer is often taken as a poetic appellation of Satan, often described as a fallen angel who committed the crime of rebelling against God for the sake of pride, being cast out of Heaven with all angels that followed him when this Rebellion failed. This image at last defines the character of Satan, where the Church Fathers had maintained that Lucifer was not the proper name of the Devil, and that it referred rather to the state from which he had fallen; St. Jerome gave it Biblical authority when he transformed it into Satan's proper name.

Many modern Christians have followed tradition and equated "Lucifer" with Satan, or the Devil.

[edit] In-game

GameRole
Shin Megami TenseiLucifer takes the form of Louis Cypher and he will send you to meet Beelzebub. If you have chose Chaos path he will be the one who will talk to you before the credits.
Shin Megami Tensei 2Lucifer again takes the form of Louis Cypher, in order to convince you to follow the Chaos path. If you chose the Law and Neutral Paths you will face him in battle, but in the Chaos path he will join your party in order to stop Satan and YHVH. According to dialogue, he was ordered by YHVH to cause Great Destruction with Kuzuryu, the nine-headed dragon that makes up the mountains of Makai, but Lucifer plan to use Kuzuryuu against YHVH instead. If Aleph's alignment is neutral, and you defeat Lucifer without the aid of Satan, Lucifer will warn Aleph that Kuzuryu must be defeated as well since it will go berserk without him to control it.
NocturneHe appears in two forms, that of a young blonde-haired boy and an old man in a wheelchair, in both forms accompanied by a nurse in black, who changes ages with him albeit oppositely. When he is young she is old and vice-versa. He is in some way responsible for setting in motion the events of the game by giving Hito-Shura his first Magatama, allowing him to live in the Vortex World. If the optional dungeon in Nocturne is traversed, it is also revealed that he was the one to give candelebra to the Fiends, in order to train Hito-Shura to a level of strength where Hito-Shura is able to beat Lucifer himself and lead a second Rebellion.
Persona 3He is the ultimate Persona of the Star Arcanum, tying in with Lucifer's pre-fall status as 'the Morningstar'. In the expansion pack Persona 3 FES, his name is changed to Helel, due to the appearance of the fallen Lucifer form in the Judgement Arcanum. The latter shares his innate stats, but is also protected against lightning. Also, prior to the fusion of his fallen form being completed, he will note that protagonist seem to value his life so little yet he will lend him his power for the time being (similar comment also given by Mara).
Persona 4Lucifer and Helel are both ultimate personae of the Judgement and Star Arcanum respectively.
