[edit] Description
Kitsune is one of the Social Links in the Persona 4 game. Befriending it will help you realize the potential of the Hermit Arcana. Kitsune seems to be the guardian fox spirit of the Tatsuhime Shrine in Yasoinaba who you run into upon coming to the temple after doing some sightseeing around town.
[edit] In Game
Kitsune will emerge from the roof of the seemingly deserted shrine and show you an ema wishing plaque that it has on its mouth. The plaque reads: "I wish that my grandfather's legs would be cured". Sure enough, an old man with a limp shows up, and you find while talking to him that he is the grandfather of the person who wrote the plaque. The old man is ecstatic after you help him cure his limping foot via the mysterious leaf that was attached to the ema, and makes a generous donation to the shrine. This pleases Kitsune, and it offers to help you in the TV World by restoring your SP with its surplus stock of healing leaves for a fee. It also hopes that you will return and make other wishes come true and make the shrine lively again. Doing so will reduce the amount it charges for recovery.
After finishing the final request, your relationship with Kitsune will not advance just yet. You will need very high Expression to communicate with it again. When you next visit, you will notice how worried Kitsune is that the offerings for the shrine have disappeared, and no new wishes have been made. Soon afterwards, carpenters arrive to renovate the offertory box and the torii into solid gold using the offerings. More souls who need help come pouring in soon enough, giving generous offerings to the shrine. This makes Kitsune very happy, and it gives you a Gratitude Ema filled with its pawprints as thanks for all your efforts.
From now on, you can use the shrine to pray for any of your other friends, but if you try to meet with Kitsune again, it will be too busy reviving the shrine and will no longer ask for your assistance in making wishes come true.
[edit] Miscellaneous
- Kitsune has varying moods whenever you're in the TV Dimension. If it's happy, the recovery price goes down a little. If it's angry, the price goes up. The possible price increase/discount pattern is separate from the S. Link rank price range, and is oftentimes dependent on the weather.
[edit] Trivia
- In one of Kitsune's requests, the owner of a closed-down model shop in the shopping district will give the Protagonist two robot model kits, one for performing the request and another as a reward for completing it. The names of the models are MF-06S Brahman and Heavy Armor Agni, based on the characters from Digital Devil Saga 2. Also, note that the Brahman model is known for "being able to function anywhere and use any gun" like the RX-78 Gundam used by Amuro Ray (although its model number seem to be analog to MS-06F Zaku II), while the Agni Model is described to be a replica of a robot that is colored red and can move "3 times faster than others", which is an homage to the custom mobile suits used by Amuro's equally iconic rival Char Aznable. Both completed models can be displayed on the shelf in the Protagonist's room.
