Another one of Devi (Parvati)’s aspects. She was created in order to fight the demon Mahisashu who couldn’t be defeated by any man. She was incredibly powerful and beautiful. Mahisashu beat up all the gods and was on the verge of destroying everything but upon seeing Durga he was overcome and asked to marry her. Instead she defeated Mahisashu’s army then fought him for 10 days after which she killed him.
